Student Civic Empowerment Summit

Learn how to get your campus vote ready for this Fall’s midterm election.

A Band of Voters, Student PIRGs New Voters Project, Democracy Works, College of the Canyons, and partners are excited to present the Student Civic Empowerment Summit, a virtual training for students to learn how to create strategic civic engagement action plans for their campuses.

What: Young people will be the largest and most diverse group of potential voters in the country, with our own values, ideas and issues that we care about. We can choose to let other people make decisions that impact your future, or we can vote and get a future that works for us!

This fall, we have the opportunity to do just that but in order to make sure students turn out to vote, we need our campuses to be #voteready! Join us at the Student Civic Empowerment Summit, a training to learn how to create student civic engagement action plans and implement AB963: The Student Civic and Voter Empowerment Act for the 2022 Midterms.

Learn from student leaders and experts around the country about a wide range of topics like:

  • Planning voter engagement events on your campus community
  • Organizing student peer-to-peer voter registration and get-out-the-vote drives
  • Passing statewide policies to help institutionalize voting for the long term

Find out how to win $1,000 for your campus events! RSVP Today!

When: Friday, April 29th. 10:00am – 1:00pm PT / 1pm – 4pm ET

Where: A hybrid training (some virtual and in person), RSVP for more information

In 2019, students from A Band of Voters partnered with youth organizations to pass historic legislation requiring California colleges to help make sure students are empowered to participate in their democracy. The Student Civic and Voter Empowerment Act (AB963) helped institutionalize civic engagement on college campuses in California by requiring campuses to create civic engagement action plans, hold multiple voter engagement events, and more.
