Zero Waste Month

America has a waste problem. Every day, we extract natural resources to produce goods that are used — often just for a few minutes — before they are thrown into landfills or incinerators or left to litter our communities and the environment. We need to move toward a zero waste future with young people at the forefront of that movement!

This October, we are launching our Zero Waste Month of Action, and we want YOU to be part of it! Participate in various weeks of action to tackle plastic pollution, promote reuse over waste, address fast fashion, and much more.

Timeline

🌊 Beyond Plastics Week (10/5 – 10/11)

Join our campaign to move beyond single-use plastics! Help us clean up local waterways, raise awareness about plastic pollution, and push for policies that eliminate unnecessary plastics from our campus and community

🧵 Repair Week (10/12 – 10/18)

Why toss it when you can fix it? We’ll host workshops to teach basic clothing and electronics repair skills so we can keep our stuff out of the landfill.

👕 Thrift Store Week (10/19 – 10/25)

Fast fashion is out — sustainable style is in. Explore local thrift shops, host a swap event, and learn how to dress sustainably while looking good!

🎃 Sustainable Halloween Week (10/26 – 11/1)

From DIY costumes to zero-waste party tips, we’re making Halloween fun and eco-friendly. Plus, help us collect and compost leftover pumpkins!
