With finals starting and the semester coming to an end, I wanted to give you a quick update on all the work accomplished this semester.
1. Our club grew by over 700%! We now have over 20 interns, volunteers, and student leaders helping us make social change at UT Austin.
2. Austin became a Bee City!! We partnered with the Parks and Recreation Department and PollinATX to help Austin become a certified Bee City. Austin City Council voted unanimously on March 3rd and we officially received our certification on March 24th. Go to the Austin Nature and Science Center to check out the pollinator gardens we helped plant!
3. One of our interns, Reagan, met with 10 local and state elected officials to build support for the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act!
4. On Valentine’s Day, we ran a bake sale to raise money for Street Forum ATX, a mutual aid organization that supports Austin’s homeless community. We sold out and got a donation from President Hartzell!
5. We joined the Civic Engagement Alliance and are working with our campus partners like TX Votes and Hook the Vote to get the campus vote-ready for the 2022 midterms!
We’re so excited about all the things we were able to accomplish this semester and are looking forward to hitting the ground running next year! Want to learn more about getting involved? Fill out this interest form.
